If you would like to know more about how my Bristol and Somerset interior design service works, please read the answers to some of my most frequently asked questions below.

What design service do you offer?

I offer a completely bespoke interior design service for all rooms of your home. At its most basic, this involves room planning, advice on freestanding and built-in furniture, floor surfaces, lighting and all aspects of soft furnishing.

Why should I hire an interior designer?

When hiring an interior designer you are embarking on a valuable journey, using a skilled professional who spends dedicated time developing designs and who can draw on refined knowledge & experience to translate your ideas into reality.

When should I hire an interior designer?

The sooner the better! The earlier you engage an interior designer, the smoother your project will run. Collaborating from the beginning with architects and contractors will ensure your design scheme will remain cohesive throughout and all details of your project are accounted for from the onset.

How does your interior design process work?

I offer a complimentary first home visit after chatting with you on the phone about the scale of the project and seeing initial images via email. Once we are working together to develop the scheme, meetings take place in your home, via videocall or online presentation depending on the stage of the project.

Phase 1 – Discussing and creating the overall layout, sourcing furniture and finetuning the colour scheme together with all soft furnishings and accessories. Concepts and ideas presented with plans, plenty of sampling, and online presentations as back up reference.

Phase 2 – Preparing the quote prior to placing orders.

Phase 3 – Placing orders on your behalf and overseeing installation as required.

What is your fee structure?

I charge a design fee based on the size of project and time involved to create the schemes. Since every project is different these prices vary. I will be able to give you an indication of the design fee after our first complimentary meeting and follow up. All projects require a signed Letter of Agreement between us outlining all Terms and Conditions.

Phase 1 – 60% of the design fee is paid at the project’s commencement. 30% after 4 weeks and the remaining 10% when the overall scheme is agreed between us. At the end of this phase you are free to use the design as you please, there is no obligation to work with me further. However the vast majority of clients prefer to utilise my knowledge and industry links to help them see the project through to completion.

Phase 2 – Putting together the quote. A nominal charge is levied for time involved in putting together the quote and 50% of this is refunded when you confirm orders with me.

Phase 3 – Ordering and Installation. Additional hourly fees may be levied for meetings with 3rd party suppliers in accordance with the Letter of Agreement.

How much will my interior design project cost?

Since no two projects are the same and all projects completely bespoke, I cannot give you an exact figure however I tend to specify and work with higher end brands. It is important for you to approach your project with a realistic budget for the size and scale of the project and value of your home. Once I understand your requirements, I will be able to advise if your budget aligns with your aspirations. It does take time to develop a design and identify the specific costs, but I always keep you informed with regular updates to the estimate once the design scheme is underway.

What information might you ask from a potential client?

  • Your thoughts as to how you wish to use the spaces concerned
  • Personal style preferences
  • That you keep an open mind to new ideas!

Do you have a specific design style?

No, my approach is to take each project on its individual merits and prepare a design that understands and interprets your lifestyle. The design should reflect your individual preferences, personality & aspirations. Take a look at my interior design portfolio to see how I have interpreted different client schemes. I will always look to be sympathetic to the architecture of your home and any precious objects you may wish to include. I then source the elements of interior design which will best suit your preferences.

Where do you work?

I specialise in interior design projects within Bristol and Somerset but am happy to work in nearby counties too.
